Kenneth Kaunda was resolute about the total political emancipation of Zambia and her neighbours.
Zambia's beloved president believed Zambia was not truly free until the brothers and sisters from all of her eight neighbouring countries were also free.
In all his discourse with the West, KK emphasised the need for African sovereignty.
Kenneth Kaunda loved sport and music, and lived a humble life.
If you ever visited him, he would personally serve you tea, and if you were at a function that he was attending with his wife, you would be entertained to his voice as he sang for his wife.
His love for sport made him patron of the Zambia National Football Team, which was famously nicknamed The KK 11.
In the evening of his life, the world widely acknowledged KK as the last living pan-Africanist, who had built strong friendships with other African leaders of his generation. It was no surprise that he was asked to give a speech at the funeral of his friend, Nelson Madiba Mandela, singing one line of his remixed "Tiyende Pamodzi" anthem in deference to Madiba.
